Lynn & Ken Mikell
Raku Petroglyph VasesClick here to add text.
Ken & Lyn Mikell have lived in the Verde Valley of Northern Arizona since 1977.
Successful musicians for the past 20 years, they have turned their talents to ceramics.  A collaboration, Ken designs the shapes and throws each pot.  Each piece is then glazed etched and fired using an ancient Japanese method called Raku.  This involves reducing the temperature and smoking the piece.  A crazing or crackle effect is produced that is unique to each.  Finally it is Lyn who creates the the wonderful petroglyph desgins by hand painting each one.  The petrogylphs used are taken from authentic glyphs found through out the southwest, many right here in the Sedona area.
Each piece is one of a kind - please contact the gallery for images of current pieces on exhibit.
